Although many people think that working from home is great for achieving a work-life balance, this may not always be true. Many people who work from home are under constant stress. Regardless of whether you started working from home during a pandemic or have worked from home before when you work from home, you don’t have fixed working hours and you get up and go to bed when you want, so your day is not defined in advance.
However, it seems that the biggest problem is the excessive use of smartphones and laptops, i.e. the constant availability, so that we can feel the stress from wherever we work.
Here’s why working from home can be a lot more stressful than we think:
Lack of structure
Although you choose your own working conditions and have some freedom, sometimes it can become a problem. In a home atmosphere, discipline is necessary. Sometimes it’s hard to explain to family members that you’re working and need some peace, and sometimes social media does its thing and you lose focus.

People who know you work from home sometimes think they can call you anytime because you don’t have fixed work hours. Sometimes they are so persistent that even further clarifications do not help. It is important to remember that these are hours, not minutes that need to be filled. Continuous breaks never produce results.
Setting boundaries
Working from home requires excellent organization and time allocation. It is not easy to draw the line between work and leisure. It is important to talk to your loved ones, but also to know your own limits. If you have children, then the situation is even more difficult.
Isolation
Individual work can be a double-edged sword. The reason is simple – because your focus is on work and family, you need extra motivation to go out, and on the other hand, you don’t need to listen to colleagues all day. You often resort to social networks to keep up to date, but this cannot replace going out for a walk or, under normal conditions, seeing the people closest to you. This scenario often leads to feelings of loneliness.
